Today is effectively a “ bonus day” due to our Morocco ports being cancelled. I got up at 7 and had a walk around the jogging track. We are seemingly now into cooler weather, with today being only 19 in Malaga.
We had breakfast in The Marquee and then had a relaxing morning in our suite. We finally got a call from Guest Relations about our suitcase that is to be shipped home after the cruise! So we went and got the paperwork and had a light lunch in the Art Cafe.
We met our bus for a 1pm tour, “Malaga Highlights”. We first drove up to the castle for the hilltop castle, Gibralfaro. Lots of views of Malaga including the bullring, still used for about 3 days a year.

We drove back down to the city centre. We had a walk around, seeing the remains of an old Roman amphitheatre as well as a place where Picasso once lived. He was born in Malaga.

We were meant to go up to the top of the Alcazaba, the old fortress. There is a lift to go up, but it was broken, and we didn’t fancy the climb up and back again. So we opted to take a one hour break. We went to a nearby cafe for coffee and a couple of tapas.
We rejoined the group for a short walk to the cathedral which features 42m high ceilings and very elaborate choir.

We were supposed to have free time after that, but as a group we decided not to, and to go back to the ship. The ship was meant to depart at 6pm but due to traffic issues, we didn’t leave until 7:30.
I thought we were booked into Kaiseki for an 8pm dinner. We went to the Panorama lounge for a drink and fronted up for dinner, only to be told our booking was for tomorrow night! I blame the change in ports. Anyway we decided to have dinner at SALT Kitchen. Ian had salt cod and prawns, while I had tiny meatballs and pork. I had ice cream for dessert.
