We were up fairly early, packed and left by about 9:20. Ian had been feeling unwell, so we bought some RAT tests and he tested negative for COVID while at the station (whew!). We caught the train to Milan, where we had some time to kill. So we had a cuppa and bought some lunch to eat on the next leg to Santa Margarita.
It was only a short walk to our hotel, Hotel Continental, from the station. We have a lovely room with an awesome view over the sea and Santa Margherita. We were being joined by good friends, Lynne and Mike, from Chester, who flew into Pisa earlier in the day. I messaged Lynne to say we had arrived. Ian went out onto our balcony and happened to look down - Lynne and Mike are staying right below us, but they have a large deck while we have a balcony.

We went down and caught up with them for a while, then Lynne, Mike and I went out for a walk along the Santa Margherita foreshore. What a beautiful town! We came back to the hotel, unpacked and got ready for dinner. Our friends, Mark, Jenny and Arlo met us at the hotel and we all walked down to find a place for dinner. I worked with Mark at Tabcorp and we have caught up with them over the years in Florence, Milan and Melbourne. Arlo is 7 years old and a gorgeous kid. They live in Santa Margherita and seemingly have charmed life here!
We found a restaurant and had a lovely time, all catching up. We shared some appetisers and Ian had a diavola pizza while I had trofie pasta with pesto. Mike and I shared a tiramisu and Ian had some icecream. We walked back to the hotel after saying farewell to Mark, Jenny and Arlo, and had a couple of drinks in the hotel bar.
