Monaco

We both slept well, but had a slow start to the morning. After a light breakfast we walked to Nice Ville station and took the train to Monaco. Beautiful beach scenes along the way!

We decided that a hop-on-hop-off bus would be a good way to see Monaco, but we missed that there is an easy way down from the station to the sea. So we walked down, lots of stairs and winding little streets. But we found a bus stop and boarded the bus, sitting on top, for the one hour circuit. We got a good feel for the place, seeing the changing of the guard (from a distance) and lots of lovely views of the marina and architecture.

We got off the bus where we had started and walked around, finding a place for lunch. Salads today - Caesar salad for Ian and a ham, tomato and mozzarella salad for me. We walked along the marina for a while and then headed back up to the station, this time via escalators!

We took the train back to Nice and relaxed before heading out to dinner. We found a nice restaurant, Cote Lounge, on Rue de France, a touristy restaurant area. Ian had gyoza for entree while I had petit pois (peas) with feta and mint. We then both had a rib eye steak with fries, washed down with a bottle of local red. 

We planned to have a gelati on the way back, but none of the places were open, so we did without! It had been a big day and we were tired. Bed by about 10.
